Okay so I have just recently finished this bona fide awesome series. It was so amazing that I couldn't put it down. N9 on the Nerdin' Scale!
Jem can see numbers when she looks into a persons' eyes. Not just any number though, the date of your death. Jem struggles with this knowledge everyday. Then she meets Spider a gangly, strange kid. He just won't leave poor Jem alone. It's not enough she has this terrible burden but his number just keeps coming back and hitting her in the face. Her only friend soon to die. Well, one day when at the fair she notices all of the people around her have the same number. Well what's Jem to do but run away. Turns out it was a planed attack and now Jem is eing blamed for it. Now Jem is on the run from her government how far will she make it?This might help you to figure it out.
This book was so amazing I nearly cried with frustration. Oh cruel author, why did you end it like that I will never know. Oh well I give this and 8.5 on the Nerdin Scale. Lindsay Buroke created a world that will wander in the back of your mind and randomly come out in conversations. Conversations where it does not belong. Conversations that if you say something like that it will look really weird. (I know this from personal experience.) This book was in short fantastic and a half.
So this legit little book is about a woman police officer in the 'steam era.' The officer, Aramanthe Lokdon, is truly dedicated to her job. Each and every aspect of it. Even though she is often considered much less than her male counter-parts. Often told she should have just choosen business or to stay at home, nothing stops Aramanthe from getting her way. Especially not some dumb robbers who decided to rob a store. When Armanthe stops these robbers with such great skill she just happens to earn the attention of the Emperor. Attention that puts her life in danger. Attention that gets her notice by the most notorious, blood-thirsty, cold-hearted, and infamous assassin around. But how is it she manages to not only not to not be killed by his cold stares, but also enlist his help?
Guess what my loyal little nerds...
This book is FREE on Amazon! But not for long because this book is clearly a winner.
